Traineeship - University of Applied Sciences

The University of Applied Sciences Baltazar is focused on professional and applicable knowledge. This is the reason why traineeship is a compulsory part of the teaching process for all students of undergraduate professional studies.

Traineeship is divided into two parts during the second and third year of study depending on the chosen traineeship model, and is awarded with 8 ECTS credits. In order to ensure that our students get the best possible traineeship, we have signed cooperation agreements with various organisations which will appoint a mentor for each student. The mentor’s task is to guide students through practical work and business processes.

We want our students to get hands-on experience of an organisation's business activities, processes and tasks

…which will correspond to their majors, so they can apply the knowledge they gained in practice.

Traineeship models

Students of Business Economics and Finance and Office Management can choose between three recommended traineeship models:

  1. Students choose the employer themselves and organize a 160-hour traineeship during the sixth semester.
  2. Students choose the employer themselves and organize an 80-hour traineeship during the sixth semester, and during the fourth semester they do an 80-hour internship organized by the University
  3. Students choose the traineeship model organized entirely by the University (80-hour traineeship + 80-hour internship)

Students of Cultural Management do their 160-hour traineeship during the sixth semester in organizations engaged in cultural activities.

Where do traineeships take place?

Students can choose their traineeship organization in Croatia or in the EU member states, or they can apply for a traineeship in the organizations which have signed the cooperation agreement with the University.

These are some of the organizations where our students of Business Economics and Finance and Office Management have undertaken their traineeships: Croatian Financial Agency, Zagrebačka banka Plc., Zagrebšped Ltd., Zagrebački holding Ltd., Allianz osiguranje Plc., Triglav osiguranje Plc., Radman grupa Ltd., Prosperikon Association, Strojopromet Ltd., Hrvatska pošta Plc., Konzum Plc., Hrvatska poštanska banka Plc., Viadukt Plc. and many other companies.

Students of Cultural Management have done their traineeships in these organizations: Lauba – a venue for art and people, Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, Croatian National Theatre in Varaždin, Centre for Culture Trešnjevka, Museum of Contemporary Art, Aplauz Theatre, Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall, Croatian State Archive, Tourist Board of the City of Zaprešić , Prosperikon Association, City Theatre “Zorin dom” Karlovac, Modern Gallery Zagreb, National Museum Zadar, Croatian Conservation Institute, Satirical Theatre Kerempuh, Ethnographic Museum, Interfilm Ltd.

Traineeship in the EU

The University of Applied Sciences Baltazar Zaprešić has been awarded the ERASMUS + Charter for Higher Education. The Erasmus programme comprises all European and international programmes and initiatives of the European Union in the field of education, training, youth and sport. One of the key activities within the Erasmus + programme is individual mobility with the purpose of learning and training. Our students have an opportunity to undertake a traineeship subsidized by the University in almost all members of the EU. This helps them acquire expert knowledge which is necessary to meet the specific requirements of the EU labour market.
